Students earning this degree can apply for jobs in various branches of the medical technology industry including research and development, as well as sales and services.

Providing an even wider range of job opportunities for graduates are hospitals with inspection services and research institutions.

In 2003/04 the Master's Program of Biomedical Engineering successfully passed the accreditation proceedings with the accreditation agency ASIIN, Düsseldorf. The ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik e. V.) has been recognized and accredited by the German Accreditation Council (deutscher Akkreditierungsrat). On March 26, 2004 the accreditation certificate was issued. The issued accreditations are recognized internationally. The Re-Accreditation took place in 2009. Up to now the accreditation is extended up to 2010 and will be extended for 10 years in total soon.
In addition to the accreditation the program successfully applied for the EUR-ACE® Label. The EUR-ACE® Label is a European Quality Label for engineering degree programmes of the first and the second cycle. It is awarded by the European Network for the Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) to engineering degree programmes which have been demonstrated to meet the requirements laid out in the EUR-ACE® Framework Standards.

The Master's Program focuses strongly on research and provides opportunities to pursue PhD programs at universities both in Germany and abroad.
