Learning outcome: The students become acquainted with the most important medical imaging modalities. The starting point of the lectures are the physical principles and their technological realization. However, advanced knowledge shall be acquired in the proper usage and processing of the found data. The students learn about image optimization and quality assessment concerning diagnostic as well as therapeutic applications. This establishes a relation to the lectures "Image Processing" (Buzug) and "Numerical methods in Medicine" (Botterweck) - but here the emphasis is on the technical conditions, restrictions and opportunities of the devices and images. The students shall be able to translate the medical users' requirements into the language of engineers. Knowledge about lecturer´s current research projects
