Pre-arrival information such as health insurance, bank accounts, and dormitories

Many people in Germany speak English, however it is always good to have a beginning knowledge of the language of a country. Therefore, we advise students to learn German because it is necessary for cultural integration in your everyday life in Luebeck. In the first semester, we offer a special German couse. In the second semster students might attend a German course at the University of Luebeck. In addition, there is always the possibility to attend external german courses, e.g. at the "Vorlkshochschule" (on one's own expense).

• Cost for a room per month: approx. 150-300 Euros
  
• Health insurance per month: approx 50 Euros (Note: For students over the age of 30 health insurance might be more expensive)
  
• Semester fees: 90-100 Euros (being paid twice a year only)
  
• Cafeteria lunch: 1.30 - 4.50 Euros
  
• Public transportion in Luebeck: exempt from charges with student ID
  

Total living costs in Luebeck per month: approx. 600 Euros

Dormitories

• Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein
  

The "Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein" offers rooms in several dormitories. They are located on the campus as well as in the city center. Prices per room and month vary between 145-300 Euros.
You may apply for a room early, but you will not be notified until the end of July or beginning of August.
